Installing Fibrous Plaster Products

The following is a general guideline that should be followed when installing our products, we recommend gluing and screwing  all products.

  • All surfaces and areas that are to be worked with should be clean and dry.
  • Areas for fixing cornices should be as flat as possible.
  • Cut cornice to size & mitre accordingly.
  • Counter sink screw holes into the most appropriate places, for cornices approximately every metre on the wall and ceiling.
  • Mark out and place guide nails into position on the wall to hold the cornice while being fixed.
  • Liberally smooth on adhesive and place product into position onto guide nails.
  • Drive screws securely.
  • Remember to remove any excess adhesive and to keep your work area clean.
  • When fixing adjoining cornices allow a slight gap, this will prevent cracking.
  • Fill in any holes and joins with plaster.
  • Allow to dry completely, you are then ready to paint.

Materials

All our products are made from the highest quality Fibrous Plaster. This consists of gypsum, a naturally occurring product which is quarried in different parts of the world.  It is then reinforced by means of jute scrims and timber laths.

Handling

All fibrous plaster products are fragile & should be handled with the utmost care to prevent any damage.  While storing it should not be exposed to any elements & should also be kept dry at all times.

All fibrous plaster products are naturally prone to chips, cracks or dents. This can easily be made good whilst fitting and are sold on this basis.
